We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of Distribution Risk.

You’ll be a key member of the RBW Business Risk Leadership Team, leading a team who provide direct risk support to Customer Channels and Mortgage Intermediaries in identifying, overseeing and managing operational risk and internal controls through the promotion, implementation and monitoring of all operational policies, procedures, service quality standards and procedural changes.

In this role you will:

  • Partner with frontline colleagues to deliver an exceptional customer experience, ensuring customer impact is considered in every decision.
  • Maintain and enhance HSBC internal controls, applying a consistent approach to assessing effectiveness and meeting regulatory and FIM requirements.
  • Resolve and/or escalate identified risks, ensuring accurate logging, clear ownership, and appropriate governance oversight.
  • Lead read-across activity to identify root causes, collaborate with stakeholders to deliver at pace, and implement robust action plans to achieve a “path to green”.
  • Provide and assess MI/data, identify gaps and trends, and recommend improvements to strengthen reporting and control outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships across 1st, 2nd and 3rd Line of Defence; champion risk initiatives, simplify internal processes, and take clear accountability for decisions made.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Risk Management experience in a Distribution environment, including Networks and Mortgage
  • A comprehensive understanding of risk management and the HSBC non-financial risk framework
  • Demonstrable people leadership with the ability to motivate and mentor a team
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
  • Experience delivering written papers/reports to senior leaders within RBW
  • Experience of building effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
