Head of Electrical Distribution Analytics

Salary: DOE
This role can be Office based, Hybrid or Remote (with very occasional trips to see the team)
We are proud to be working at the very forefront of Electrical Distribution Analytics, partnering with some of the largest distribution companies in the world. Through a combination of Machine Learning, Software Engineering, and Electrical Engineering subject matter expertise, we are able to predict faults, provide precise locations, and insights into the cause. With R&D and Innovation at the heart of our work, we are looking to grow our team due to continued success.

Our main office is based in the heart of the wonderful and vibrant city of Bristol, around the corner from the SS Great Britain and one of the street artist, Banksy’s infamous works. It is only a short stroll to Cargo and the Harbourside area which boasts a tremendous array of bars, restaurants, cafes, and other assorted nice places all ripe for a lunch break visit or relaxing after work.
We are looking for someone with broad experience within the electrical distribution industry, who has a passion for innovation and analytics to join us, to manage our SME business unit. The role will suit someone who is comfortable presenting in front of Executives from Global distribution and manufacturing companies, who is excited by the possibilities technology brings to the industry, and who is capable of identifying and exploring strategic direction for Toumetis. Prior experience within System Planning/System Protection/ working as a Power Systems Engineer or Power Quality are all areas that would allow you to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities / Job Role
- Subject Matter Expertise & Strategic Leadership: Serve as a leading subject matter expert in electrical distribution engineering, including system protection, utility operations, electrical equipment, performance monitoring, and data analytics, providing deep technical insight and guidance across the organization. Contribute significantly to the strategic direction of our analytics solutions for the electrical grid.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineering analysts, fostering their technical growth and ensuring the delivery of high-quality analytical solutions.
- Client & Partner Engagement: Act as a key point of contact for clients and partners within electrical distribution companies and equipment manufacturers. Understand their business challenges, identify opportunities for data-driven solutions.
- Technology Roadmap Development: Collaborate closely with data science and software development teams to define the technological roadmap for advancing our data analytics capabilities for electrical grids.
- Executive Collaboration: Work closely with executive leadership to define business needs, translate market opportunities into strategic initiatives, and communicate the value and impact of our analytics solution.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in electrical distribution engineering, with a strong understanding of grid operations, system protection, electrical equipment performance monitoring, and data analytics, and challenges.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with electrical distribution companies and/or electrical distribution equipment manufacturers.
- A keen interest in and understanding of data analytics technologies and their application to industrial or infrastructure domains.
- Proven experience in a leadership or management role, including mentoring and developing technical teams.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and techniques, statistics software, and techniques (e.g., Python, SQL, machine learning concepts) would be a plus.
