At Sureserve Energy Services
Excellence is not just an expectation; it's our standard. With a driven team of almost 600 professionals, we are at the forefront of providing stellar asset and energy services across the UK. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to elevate the quality of life in the communities we serve by innovating and improving the spaces where people reside, work, and gather.
We are seeking a Head of Electrical to operate from our Bathgate office to take ultimate operational and technical accountability for the established electrical division.
Reporting to our Operations Director, you will lead a team of experienced field-based Qualified Supervisors and Electrical Engineers. This role requires a unique mix of commercial drive, logistical brilliance, and an uncompromising attitude toward electrical safety and compliance. You will ensure our delivery frameworks seamlessly support local authorities and housing associations in upgrading housing stock, rolling out EV charge points, solar PV, and meeting strict regulatory demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and inspire a team of mobile Electricians, Installation Electricians, and Qualified Supervisors.
- Optimize engineer scheduling, response times, and resource allocation across major local authority frameworks to hit key performance indicators (KPIs) and first-time fix rates.
- Act as the Principal Duty Holder or Qualified Supervisor for the business, ensuring total compliance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and NICEIC standards.
- Collaborate with our renewables division to oversee the electrical infrastructure required for PAS 2035 retrofit projects, including Solar PV, Battery Storage, Air Source Heat Pumps, and EV charging networks.
- Foster a "Zero Harm" safety culture, ensuring rigorous audit regimes, risk assessments, and robust RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements) are embedded in the field.
- Serve as the senior technical escalation point for housing associations, asset managers, and local authority council representatives.
- Manage the electrical division's P&L, tracking commercial metrics, identifying operational efficiencies, and pricing/scoping large-scale remedial works following EICR testing.
- Assist the business development team on complex tenders, providing technical methodologies and commercial estimation for major upcoming public sector frameworks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
