Head of Engineering

Location: Manchester, UK - Hybrid Working (3 Days per Week in Office)

Please note: Candidates must be able to commute to the Manchester office 3 days per week. Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

You'll work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable and resilient technology solutions while driving continuous improvement and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the C#/.Net Engineering function, aligning delivery with business and technology strategy.
  • Own engineering governance, standards, controls and best practices.
  • Deliver high-quality solutions across design, build, test and release activities.
  • Manage engineering roadmaps, resource planning, priorities and delivery performance.
  • Collaborate with Architecture, Change, Operations and business stakeholders to deliver strategic initiatives.
  • Drive automation, modern engineering practices and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor delivery performance, risks and service outcomes.
  • Manage third-party suppliers and engineering partners.
  • Coach, mentor and develop engineering teams.

Requirements

Essential

  • Significant experience leading large-scale engineering or technology delivery teams.
  • Experience leading Microsoft-stack teams working with C#/.Net
  • Proven track record delivering complex technology programmes within enterprise environments.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management and people development skills.
  • Experience establishing engineering governance, standards and delivery frameworks.
  • Knowledge of technology risk, security and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing suppliers and outsourced delivery partners.

Desirable

  • Experience leading engineering transformation programmes.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies, DevOps and automation practices.
  • Experience within regulated environments.
