Head of Digital Engineering

This is a senior leadership role with a broad remit. You'll own the digital technology strategy and engineering teams behind the company's consumer web, app and MarTech platforms, reporting into a Director and playing a key part in their wider technology transformation.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop and execute the digital and MarTech technology strategy in partnership with the Marketing function
  • Own the digital platform across a blend of in-house built and SaaS products, covering architecture, product selection and engineering delivery
  • Lead a mix of in-house and outsourced engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, best practice and continuous improvement
  • Oversee the design and delivery of scalable digital solutions across web, app and MarTech
  • Drive engineering best practices including TDD, continuous delivery and pair programming
  • Translate business requirements into technical priorities and work closely with product and commercial stakeholders

What we're looking for

  • Background in retail or hospitality engineering leadership, this is a must
  • Previously a Head of Technology or Staff Software Engineer with strong front-end, back-end and mobile experience (Node, React, Kotlin, Swift ideally)
  • Experience leading across outsourced and in-house delivery teams
  • Strong knowledge of microservices, cloud, CI/CD and cybersecurity
  • Commercially minded with the ability to communicate technical strategy to non-technical stakeholders
  • UK right to work
