Head of Engineering

London (Hybrid – 1 day per week in London)
To 120k + Bonus

We're partnering with an innovative, technology-led organisation to recruit an experienced Head of Engineering to lead and develop a growing engineering function.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an engineering leader who enjoys building high-performing teams, driving delivery and influencing technology strategy. Reporting to the CTO, you'll lead an engineering organisation of up to 20 people, shaping the engineering roadmap while creating a culture of collaboration, ownership and continuous improvement.

As Head of Engineering, you'll be responsible for leading the engineering function, ensuring the successful delivery of strategic technology initiatives and developing a high-performing engineering culture.

Working closely with Product, Architecture and senior business stakeholders, you'll translate business priorities into engineering outcomes while championing modern engineering practices and Agile ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop an engineering organisation of up to 20 people.
  • Define and execute the engineering strategy alongside the CTO.
  • Shape and deliver the technology roadmap.
  • Build a culture focused on engineering excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Drive successful delivery of complex software projects and technology initiatives.
  • Champion contemporary Agile principles and modern software engineering practices.
  • Promote secure, scalable and resilient cloud-native solutions.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to align engineering priorities with business objectives.
  • Contribute to technology investment and prioritisation discussions.

About You

We are looking for an experienced engineering leader with a passion for developing people and delivering technology that creates business value.

You'll bring:

  • Experience leading software engineering teams of around 20 people.
  • A strong track record of delivering complex software products and platforms.
  • Experience defining engineering strategy and technology roadmaps.
  • A people-first leadership style with a passion for coaching and mentoring.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, C#, APIs, microservices and modern cloud architectures.
  • A deep understanding of contemporary Agile principles and engineering best practice.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
