Head of Engineering
Head Of Engineering – Cutting Edge London Based Saas Scale-Up – Up to £185k + Equity
Cracking opportunity for a seasoned Technology leader to join one of the UK’s most exciting scale-ups as it moves into the next stage of its growth journey. Our client has just secured Series A funding following a previous round of major investment and has ambitious plans that will take the business from founder-led success to global scale — and that’s where you come in.
This isn’t a traditional Head Of Engineering role, nor is it a corporate one.
This role is not for strategy CTOs, enterprise passengers or career corporates. It’s for ambitious scale-up operators — founder-minded engineering leaders who are energised by transformation, execution and scaling complexity. This is a role for someone who has lived through the growing pains of scaling SaaS businesses before & survived scale-up chaos. Someone who has taken the hills, knows first hand what growing pains look like & feels most alive executing in that environment.
This is an engineering transformation mandate that sits right at the intersection of Engineering Leadership, Operational Delivery, Organisational Scaling and Product Execution. You’ll be responsible for driving the evolution of the engineering function into a scalable, accountable and high-performing organisation capable of supporting rapid commercial growth - & it will be rapid.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The successful candidate will almost certainly carry a few operational scars. You’ve likely dealt with scaling chaos, navigated bottlenecks, handled difficult people and built structure inside fast-moving SaaS businesses. You understand first hand that scaling engineering organisations is rarely clean, tidy or theoretical — and you know how to bring order, accountability and execution without suffocating momentum or culture.
You will definitely bring experience from scaling B2B SaaS engineering environments during periods of rapid growth and have operated within founder-led businesses where engineering maturity needed to evolve quickly alongside commercial success.
We are looking to identify true engineering transformation operators here — we are not over-indexing on job title prestige, hierarchy or title inflation. The sweet spot for this role does not sit within strategic talkers, architecture theorists, ‘vision’ candidates or those too far removed from execution. Honestly, a lot of them would fail badly in this environment.

Bottom line? This ad should sing to someone that thrives on ‘hard mode’.
Cultural fit is hugely important here too because you’ll be helping build and future-proof the engineering culture as the business scales globally. So an impossibly positive, resilient and relentless mindset matters. Somebody who can smile in the face of adversity, enjoys the camaraderie of being in the trenches with the founders & wider SLT & genuinely comes alive pushing forward inspiring those around them.
Experience within fast-moving B2B SaaS, InsurTech, FinTech, RegTech or other operationally complex SaaS environments would be highly valuable.
