Head of Engineering – Banking – FTC - London

An experienced engineering leader is required by a UK challenger bank to head up their Digital Engineering function and help shape the future of digital banking.

We are looking for an experienced Head of Digital Engineering to lead a number of teams in delivering innovative, secure, and scalable digital solutions that empower customers and drive the digital growth strategy.

This is a Player-Manager role – we need someone who is still hands-on coding and likes to lead from the front – an individual contributor who can inspire, mentor and manage cutting-edge engineering teams, work with the latest cloud-native technologies, and make a meaningful impact.

What’s the Role?

As the Head of Engineering, you will be at the core of the technology transformation, responsible for guiding the development and operation of customer-facing applications, microservices, and digital platforms on Google Cloud.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
