To lead one of Asda’s Technology Engineering functions by setting strategy, defining priorities, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable software solutions across all platforms to enable the business to achieve value from robust innovative technology.

Please be advised that this position requires attendance at Asda House in Leeds for a minimum of four days per week. We’re really looking forward to having you around!

What You’ll Love

Enterprise Software Engineering Strategy

  • Own the overall strategy, vision, and roadmap for software engineering across the function.
  • Ensure alignment of engineering initiatives with organizational priorities, product strategy, and architecture standards.
  • Empower teams to innovate, scale, and optimize software platforms, applications, and development capabilities.

Leadership & Management

  • Lead and develop the Engineering family, fostering performance, engagement, and growth.
  • Set expectations, provide guidance, and hold leaders accountable for technical excellence and delivery.
  • Manage engineering budgets, vendor relationships, and third-party integrations with a product mindset.
  • Champion a culture of collaboration, innovation, and operational discipline across the function.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with Leaders from the other Role Families to align priorities and delivery.
  • Represent the function in leadership forums, enterprise planning sessions, and governance committees.

Governance, Quality & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure engineering solutions adhere to enterprise standards for security, compliance, and quality.
  • Promote operational excellence through best practices in DevOps, observability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Drive adoption of new tools, technologies, and approaches through enablement and leadership.

Part of Technology Leadership Team

  • Manage and develop a high-performing software engineering function with a culture of excellence.
  • Serve as a core member of the Technology Leadership Team, shaping overall strategy and priorities.
  • Champion wellbeing, engagement, and inclusivity, fostering a positive and collaborative culture.
