Head of Engineering (Higher Education)

Head of Higher Education Engineering

Permanent | 37 hours per week £57,141 to £64,285 (Negotiable at the top for an exceptional candidate)

We are recruiting for a Head of Higher Education Engineering to lead this rapidly growing and high-impact area.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead our Higher Education Engineering provision, including:
    • Higher apprenticeships
    • Pearson Higher Nationals (HN)
    • University-partner programmes
  • Collaborate with employers, universities, and awarding bodies to align provision with:
    • Student demand
    • Employer needs
    • Regional skills priorities
  • Work with senior staff to shape a distinctive engineering programme that positions us as regional leaders.
  • Represent Wigan & Leigh College as the lead Further Education (FE) partner in:
    • The Greater Manchester Institute of Technology (GMioT)
    • The North-West Construction Technical Excellence College

  • Strong academic and industrial credibility—able to lead with authority among employers, colleges, and institutions
  • Tactical drive to grow a provision that is recognised as outstanding
  • A clear understanding of:
    • Technical education delivery at higher levels
    • Employer collaboration and engagement
    • Academic programme development beyond traditional boundaries
