This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Head of Engineering based in United Kingdom.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced engineering leader to drive the technical evolution of a mature, high-traffic SaaS platform in a rapidly changing AI landscape. In this strategic leadership role, you will shape engineering vision, organizational design, and technical direction while fostering a culture of autonomy, innovation, and continuous improvement. Working closely with executive leadership, you will align engineering initiatives with business goals, modernize development practices, and enable scalable product growth. You will mentor a distributed engineering team, champion AI-native engineering approaches, and oversee the delivery of secure, high-performing software solutions. The role combines technical leadership, people management, and organizational transformation in a fully remote, collaborative environment. Accountabilities
- Define and execute the engineering vision and technical roadmap in partnership with technical leaders and executive stakeholders.
- Lead the transformation of engineering processes by promoting cross-functional collaboration, end-to-end ownership, and outcome-focused delivery.
- Drive the adoption of AI-native development practices, automation, and modern engineering workflows to improve productivity and innovation.
- Partner closely with product leadership to balance customer value, technical sustainability, feature delivery, and long-term platform evolution.
- Oversee architecture, scalability, security, privacy compliance, system performance, and technical quality across a large-scale SaaS platform.
- Mentor, coach, and develop an international engineering organization, fostering autonomy, accountability, and high performance.
- Remove delivery bottlenecks, improve engineering efficiency, and establish predictable development processes.
- Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to support system reliability, migrations, and operational excellence.

Requirements
- Proven experience leading engineering organizations within high-scale SaaS or cloud-based software environments.
- Strong technical background with the credibility to guide architectural discussions and support senior engineering teams.
- Experience managing organizational change, engineering transformation, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Product-oriented mindset with the ability to prioritize engineering investments based on customer impact and business objectives.
- Demonstrated success building high-performing engineering teams and empowering autonomous decision-making.
- Strong understanding of modern software architecture, cloud infrastructure, scalability, security, data privacy, and operational excellence.
- Experience driving AI adoption within engineering teams, including the practical use of large language models and AI-powered development tools.
- Familiarity with technologies such as PHP, Laravel, Vue.js, and related web application ecosystems is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of SEO technologies, web crawling, indexing, or content analysis is considered an advantage.
- Fluent English communication skills are required; German language proficiency is a strong plus.
