Head of Engineering
Manager, Integrated Engineering Programmes
(Westhill, Aberdeenshire or Inchinnan, Glasgow – Full-time, Permanent)
About the Role
This role is pivotal to the successful delivery of projects, product line extensions, and in-service support contracts. You will build and lead a high-performing international engineering team to develop cutting-edge products and deliver best-in-class aftermarket support.
By driving execution, meeting contractual commitments, and fostering a culture of excellence, you will play a key part in improving overall business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee engineering delivery to ensure alignment with timelines, budgets, and quality standards
- Driving accountability across engineering teams, through clear governance, oversight, and performance tracking
- Embed strong engineering discipline, ensuring adherence to processes, best practices, and safety standards
- Develop and manage resource plans and budgets in line with strategic business priorities
- Strengthen team capability through targeted development, training, and strategic hiring
- Monitor and deliver against KPIs, including:
- Schedule adherence
- Cost management
- Capability maturity
- Champion continuous improvement, applying lean, agile, and systems engineering principles
- Enable innovation by supporting the integration of emerging technologies (AI, autonomous systems, advanced materials) into product development

Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven experience leading a multi-disciplinary engineering function across complex products or programmes
- Track record of successfully delivering high-impact engineering projects
- Strong technical leadership, with the ability to inspire, develop, and guide high-performing teams
- Commercially astute, understanding how engineering decisions impact business outcomes
- Collaborative leadership style, with experience in empowering teams and cross-functional collaboration
- Experience within robust governance frameworks, balancing compliance with programme delivery
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, engaging effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Degree-qualified in Engineering (or equivalent), ideally with Chartered Engineer status (or commitment to attainment)
- IT technology sector or defence sector experience would be advantageous
