Head of Enterprise Architecture
Location: London Salary Range: £92,701 - £109,060 Contract Type: Permanent Hours: Full-time Working Pattern: Hybrid (40% attendance at central hub)
About the Role
Join Lloyds Living, an ambitious project within Lloyds Banking Group, transforming property management across the UK and growing into one of the nation’s largest landlords. Part of the Group’s strategic mission to "help Britain prosper", Lloyds Living contributes to housing initiatives, having provided nearly £40bn in mortgages and supported one in four first-time buyers since 2018.
As the Head of Enterprise Architecture within a newly established technology team, you will help deliver cutting-edge solutions to drive innovation, customer dedication, and growth in private rental sector (PRS), Shared Ownership, and residential property management.
Role Purpose
You will define, oversee, and execute Lloyds Living’s enterprise architecture strategy, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technology execution. Responsibilities include:
- Directing a multidisciplinary team of Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects, and Process Engineers.
- Developing and maintaining architecture frameworks, blueprints, and process maps across business units.
- Embedding architecture governance to facilitate effective decision-making and standards enforcement.
- Supporting strategic transformation and operational efficiency through cohesive technical and process alignment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership in Enterprise Architecture
- Define and develop the organisation’s enterprise architecture strategy, principles, and target state.
- Establish architecture frameworks, standards, and guidelines for business and technology domains.
- Ensure alignment between business strategy, operating models, and technology roadmaps.
- Lead architecture governance forums (e.g., design authorities, review boards).
- Provide strategic oversight for major transformation programmes and investments.
2. Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead and mentor a high-performing architecture and process engineering team.
- Define roles, career pathways, and responsibility matrices for architecture and process functions.
- Foster collaboration between architecture, delivery, product, and business teams.
- Act as a key mentor for complex architecture challenges impacting deadlines.

3. Architecture & Process Modelling
- Oversee the development and maintenance of enterprise architecture artefacts, including:
- Business capability models
- Application and data architectures
- Technology landscapes
- Integration patterns and standards
- Lead creation of detailed process maps for business units, ensuring uniformity, accessibility, and compliance with real-world practices.
- Encourage the reuse of architectural patterns and tools for standardisation across the organisation.
4. Portfolio Alignment & Delivery Enablement
- Partner with product, data, risk, and technology teams to align architecture with project portfolios.
- Ensure solution designs comply with enterprise standards while allowing speed and flexibility in delivery.
- Support prioritisation and sequencing through capability and dependency mapping, balancing strategic integrity with pragmatic execution.
5. Governance, Risk & Decision Support
- Establish architecture governance to ensure adherence to standards and strategic direction.
- Provide architectural assurance (e.g., design reviews, risk assessments) for major programmes.
- Support regulatory compliance by integrating risk controls into architecture and processes.
- Enable data-driven decision-making through architecture insights and reporting.
6. Collaborator Engagement
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive and senior stakeholders on architectural and transformation initiatives.
- Communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Engage closely with business units to ensure architecture aligns with real-world business requirements and priorities.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Senior leadership experience in Enterprise Architecture within a complex organisation.
- Demonstrable track record of building and leading architecture/process teams.
- Deep expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) and modelling techniques.
- Experience developing, managing, and operationalising architecture artefacts across:
- Business capabilities
- Applications/data
- Technology layers
- Proficiency in business process modelling and large-scale process improvement.
- Capacity to influence at an executive level and balance strategic thinking with pragmatic execution.
- Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture/process modelling tools, including:
- Ardox
- Leanix
- Aris
