Report to the CEO

Partner the Senior Executive Team lead as one enterprise - shaping how an entire business plans, prioritises and delivers.

This role is for someone who wants to step into the centre of a large, complex business and shape how it plans, prioritises and delivers as one enterprise.

Reporting directly to our CEO, you will act as the integration point across strategy, transformation and business-as-usual, helping the business bring together what is currently complex and fast-moving into one clear, aligned enterprise plan.

You will work closely with the CEO and Senior Executive Team to surface trade offs, prioritise what matters most, and enable confident, enterprise-wide decision making.

Why this role is different

  • Direct line to the CEO A true enterprise role enabling the CEO and the Senior Executive Team to lead and run the business as one enterprise, not just a function or programme
  • Shape how the enterprise operates This role exists because the planning, prioritisation and integration disciplines required at this scale is not fully realised.
  • Whole-of-enterprise scope Hold the single view across business as usual, Fit for the Future and One Ryman, connecting priorities capital, capacity and delivery
  • Real influence, no hierarchy No direct reports. Impact comes through insight, judgement and the ability to align senior stakeholders
  • A genuine step-up opportunity Designed for a high calibre operator to take on an enterprise-level role with CEO exposure

Why now

Ryman has completed a significant reset across governance, balance sheet and operating discipline. The business is now entering a new phase focused on execution, integration and value creation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Alongside this, two major transformation programmes are running in parallel with a complex, 24/7 operational business. Bringing these together into a single, integrated enterprise plan is now the next step in Ryman’s evolution. This is the role that brings it all together.

The role

Based in Christchurch and reporting to the CEO, this 24-month fixed term appointment sees you you will hold the single, authoritative enterprise view across all activity in flight.

You will bring planning and integration together across the enterprise, ensuring priorities, capital, people and delivery are aligned and sequenced in a way the organisation can deliver.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Enterprise view and roadmap Maintain a single, current picture of all priorities across BAU and transformation, including pace and capacity
  • Integrated planning Bring transformation and BAU priorities, capital allocation and organisational capacity into one coherent plan
  • Trade offs and prioritization Surface dependencies, risks and conflicts early, identify low-value activity to stop, and support enterprise-level decision making
  • SET effectiveness Design the rhythms, forums and information flows that enable the Senior Executive Team to lead as one enterprise
  • Governance and orchestration Build the structures and disciplines that hold the enterprise plan together, working alongside individual SET members and their direct reports to strengthen functional-level governance and planning processes so they integrate cleanly with enterprise processes

About You

You bring the judgment, structured thinking and presence to operate at enterprise level.

  • Background in consulting, or in enterprise planning, transformation or a similarly complex environment within a large organisation.
  • Strong structured thinking, with the ability to bring complex, parallel activity into one coherent plan.
  • Comfortable operating at enterprise level across multiple moving parts.
  • Credibility and presence to engage a senior executive team.
  • Natural integrator who can connect, prioritise and align without relying on authority.
  • Pragmatic, motivated and energised by being at the centre of meaningful change.

This is not a delivery role. It is a decision-support, orchestration and integration role, requiring judgement, influence and enterprise thinking. Industry experience is not required.
