We are working with a specialty insurer entering an exciting phase of growth and evolution, looking to appoint a Head of External Reporting to build and lead a best-in-class reporting function. This is a high-impact role where you will shape the external reporting framework, drive financial governance, and ensure the delivery of accurate, compliant financial reporting in a dynamic, scaling environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the external financial reporting function, including statutory accounts and group reporting outputs
- Own and manage the Group consolidation process across a complex, multi-entity structure
- Design and implement a robust external reporting framework, including governance, controls, and processes
- Develop reporting timetables, review mechanisms, and operating models to ensure timely and high-quality outputs
- Act as the technical accounting lead, maintaining accounting policies and ensuring compliance with IFRS
- Monitor and interpret changes in accounting standards, translating them into practical guidance
- Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and advisors on reporting and technical matters
- Partner with senior stakeholders to strengthen financial governance and reporting disciplines
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing external reporting team

Skills & Experience

- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent)
- Significant experience in external reporting and group consolidation within complex organisations
- Background in a UK listed environment with experience delivering Annual Report & Accounts
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly IFRS
- Proven ability to interpret complex accounting standards and apply them in a commercial context
- Experience managing multi-entity consolidations and intercompany processes
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to operate effectively at senior leadership level
