Are you an experienced facilities and asset management leader ready to shape the future of South Yorkshire’s public estate? We’re looking for a strategic, forward-thinking professional to join SYMCA as our Head of Facilities and Asset Management, a pivotal role ensuring our estate is safe, compliant, resilient, and delivering maximum value for our communities.
We anticipate first stage interviews for this role will take place week commencing 17 August.

About The Role
As Head of Facilities & Asset Management, you will take strategic responsibility for the management of SYMCA’s diverse estate, including the Advanced Manufacturing Park Technology Centre, major transport interchanges and bus infrastructure, our Head Office, and a range of legacy properties and land.
You will lead the development and delivery of our asset and estates strategy, ensuring our facilities effectively support SYMCA’s transport and economic ambitions. Your role will encompass facilities management, statutory and landlord compliance, asset data and systems (including CAFM/AMS), capital investment planning, and identifying commercial opportunities across the full asset lifecycle.
This is a leadership role at the heart of a transforming organisation, ideal for someone who thrives on collaboration, innovation, and delivering high-quality services to the public.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the strategic asset management function across our full estate portfolio.
- Developing and delivering the annual Facilities and Estate Asset Management Plan.
- Ensuring statutory compliance, robust health and safety management, and strong governance across all sites.
- Overseeing supplier and contract management, including SLAs, KPIs, and performance reviews.
- Managing capital and revenue investment planning, prioritisation, and reporting.
- Driving continuous improvement in FM service delivery.
- Managing tenant relationships and identifying opportunities for land use, disposal, or commercial development.
- Leading, inspiring, and developing a high-performing Facilities and Assets team.
- Collaborating with colleagues across Business Operations, Finance, Procurement, Legal, Marketing, and Customer Services.

About You
We’re looking for a professional who brings:
- A degree-level qualification or equivalent, plus a higher-level Facilities or Asset Management qualification.
- Significant experience in facilities and asset management, ideally at senior level.
- Strong understanding of statutory and regulatory H&S requirements (e.g. PUWER, LOLER, CDM, MHSAW).
- Proven experience in contract management, supplier performance, and FM service improvement.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience leading teams, delivering change, and managing complex estates.
- Commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to interpret complex asset information and make evidence-based decisions.
- CPD commitment; NEBOSH and IWFM membership are desirable.
