Are you an experienced Facilities Management leader looking for an opportunity to shape and transform services across a complex, multi-site organisation?

Our client is a well-established organisation operating across education, residential, care, and support services. They are seeking a Head of FM Operations to lead the delivery of facilities services across its schools, college, residential services, and lifelong learning facilities. Reporting to the Head of Estates, you will play a key role in ensuring safe, compliant, efficient, and customer-focused environments that support the Foundation's mission.

About the Role

As Head of FM Operations, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a diverse portfolio of buildings and services. You will be responsible for driving service excellence, ensuring statutory compliance, and leading both in-house teams and external contractors to deliver high-quality facilities management services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all Facilities Management operations, including maintenance, compliance, engineering, cleaning, security, catering, grounds maintenance, and reception services.
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation, building regulations, statutory inspections, and planned preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Manage and monitor service performance through KPIs, audits, customer feedback, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee FM budgets, procurement activities, contract management, and supplier performance to ensure value for money.
  • Support long-term estates planning, sustainability objectives, capital projects, and operational readiness for new developments and refurbishments.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and provide visible leadership across the organisation.

About You

We are looking for a passionate and innovative FM professional who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational leadership.

You will have:

  • Significant experience managing large-scale FM services across a multi-site or complex estate.
  • Strong knowledge of building compliance, health & safety legislation, and FM best practice.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing outsourced service contracts.
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness, including budget management and procurement oversight.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to drive positive cultural change and continuous improvement.
