Plas Y Brenin
Are you an experienced Finance Professional who is looking for a positive career move that could be both immensely professionally fulfilling, and a great lifestyle choice?
Does working for an important charity in the heart of Eryri National Park (Snowdonia), one of the most beautiful locations in the country, sound like just what you were looking for? If you already have experience of senior level financial management and reporting, ideally for both charitable and commercial activity, or are ready for that next move, then this could be a great choice for you.
At Plas y Brenin, the National Outdoor Centre, we are seeking an experienced Head of Finance, or an ambitious Finance Manager ready for that next step, to join us on our hugely exciting journey. You will want and need to be both strategic and hands on and have a great eye and passion for detail. You will need to enjoy working across a variety of departments and business models, supporting colleagues and reporting to key stakeholders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
