Head of Finance
Head of Finance Role – Port of Sheerness
Are you seeking an opportunity to play a key role leading and inspiring experienced Finance professionals, making a real difference to the success of our operation at the Port of Sheerness, while also developing your own skills and experience?
We are seeking an experienced Head of Finance to play a key role as part of our Leadership Team, embedding our business partnering model at an exciting time during our growth phase.
Your Role

Reporting to the Finance Director, based at the Port of Sheerness but also supporting the Port of East Anglia, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, developing, and coaching a team of Finance Managers
- Ensuring alignment with business goals
- Embedding a high-performing and collaborative culture
- Partnering with the wider business to support delivery of our finance strategy and wider business plan
- Playing a key role in shaping and maintaining risk and governance frameworks

You will be accountable for:
- Improving financial performance, including revenue, cost efficiency, and margin improvement
- Driving continuous improvement, identifying efficiencies, and enhancing reporting capability
- Acting as Deputy to the Finance Director when required
- Providing forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis to support commercial decisions

What You’ll Bring
We are looking for a candidate with:
- An Accountancy Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) combined with significant post-qualification experience in a multi-site operations environment.
- Strong leadership experience, with a proven track record of developing and managing finance teams.
- Proven expertise in:
- Driving forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis for commercial decision-making.
- Capital planning and business case development.
- The ability to influence, engage, and build strong stakeholder relationships across the business.
- Experience in cash flow management, credit control, and balance sheet governance, plus an understanding of:
- Audit processes and financial controls.
- A strong commercial and strategic mindset.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
