Head of Finance

Igne is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Head of Finance to join our growing business based in Ross-on-Wye, with regular travel to other locations across the UK as required.

This is a pivotal leadership role at an exciting time for the Group. Following a strategic review of the Finance function, the business is embarking on the next phase of its development, including the centralisation of the Finance team into Ross-on-Wye and the continued strengthening of our finance capability to support future growth.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will take ownership of the day-to-day Finance function while playing a key role in shaping its future. The successful candidate will lead a period of change and transformation, overseeing the transition and integration of the Finance team, building and developing a high-performing finance function, strengthening controls and processes, and ensuring our systems and reporting capabilities continue to support the evolving needs of the business. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance leader who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands-on operational leadership and who has experience leading teams through periods of growth, change and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day Finance function, ensuring strong financial control, accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Lead the transition and integration of the Finance function into Ross-on-Wye, ensuring business continuity and effective knowledge transfer.
  • Recruit, develop and embed a high-performing transactional finance team to support the future operating model.
  • Build, mentor and develop a high-performing Finance team, creating a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Produce timely and accurate financial reporting, including shareholder and private equity reporting.
  • Manage treasury activities, banking relationships, covenant compliance and cashflow forecasting.
  • Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts and manage the annual external audit process.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and business performance reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, controls, policies and processes.
  • Lead finance-related projects, including ERP optimisation, business transformation initiatives and process improvements.
  • Support merger, acquisition and integration activities across the Group.
  • Partner with operational and senior leadership teams to improve financial visibility, accountability and decision-making.
  • Act as a trusted deputy to the CFO and provide leadership across the wider Finance function.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
