The Opportunity

As Head of Finance, you will act as a key business partner to the leadership team, owning all aspects of financial control, reporting, planning, and operational finance. You will play a pivotal role in strategic decision-making, performance management, and continuous improvement across a multi-site engineering environment.

Business Partnering

  • Partner with the GM and Leadership Team to define and deliver strategic plans.
  • Provide data-driven insight, challenge assumptions, and support commercial decision-making.
  • Monitor external risks and support mitigation planning.

Finance Leadership

  • Lead statutory and management reporting under UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Ensure robust internal controls, compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, KPIs, and monthly performance reviews.
  • Manage relationships with auditors and external stakeholders.

ERP & Transformation

  • Act as business lead for the current ERP system.
  • Serve as a key change agent for a major ERP upgrade to D365.

Operational Finance

  • Oversee treasury, cash flow, credit control, and banking relationships.
  • Ensure accurate invoicing, credit policy adherence, and cash management.

Manufacturing Finance

  • Lead stock valuation, gross margin analysis, and Bills of Materials oversight.
  • Support operational teams with actionable insight to improve financial performance.

Legal & Governance

  • Oversee contract governance, insurance, compliance, and dispute resolution.
  • Coordinate shareholder meetings and statutory obligations.

Payroll & People Leadership

  • Supervise payroll and HMRC compliance.
  • Lead and develop a 6-person finance team across two sites.

About You

  • Qualified accountant with 5+ years PQE.
  • Strong experience in manufacturing or engineering (essential).
  • Proven leader with cross-functional influence and commercial acumen.
  • Comfortable operating in a multi-site, hands-on environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and problem-solving capability.
  • Confident communicator able to engage at all levels.
