Head of Finance (12 month Maternity Cover)

Central London

Up to £85,000

Looking for a seat at the table?

Some finance roles are about reporting on the business. This one helps shape it. We're looking for a commercially minded Head of Finance to lead our UK finance function during a maternity cover period of 12 months.

At Sticks’n’Sushi we serve high-quality, fresh food based on a blend of classic and creative sushi alongside delicious sticks from the grill, bringing together Danish design, Japanese dining and elevated hospitality. With investment from McWin Capital Partners, ambitious expansion plans across five countries and plenty happening in the UK, this isn't a role for someone who wants to simply keep the lights on.

You'll be a trusted partner to our Group CFO, work alongside our Operations teams and Restaurant General Managers, and help steer a business that's continuing to grow. If you're the type of person who enjoys turning numbers into decisions, building great teams and making complex things feel simple, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Leading the UK Finance team of 4, coaching and developing them to do their best work.
  • Acting as the financial partner to our UK business, supporting 17 restaurants, three catering & delivery kitchens and future openings.
  • Owning the monthly financial reporting cycle in the UK, ensuring accurate P&Ls, balance sheets and management reporting.
  • Leading the statutory audit for the Group and UK entity accounts.
  • Working closely with our Group CFO and Head of Group Finance on budgeting and forecasting.
  • Supporting the Payroll Manager to optimise payroll processes following the implementation of our new payroll system, ensuring accuracy and robust controls.
  • Managing relationships with HMRC and external tax advisers, including VAT submissions and corporation tax planning.
  • Helping Restaurant General Managers understand the story behind their numbers and make commercially sound decisions.
  • Supporting finance projects, process improvements and business growth initiatives across the UK.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
