Job Specification – Head of Finance

Position: Head of Finance

Company: Guru Technology Ltd

Location: Hybrid / Office-Based (as required)

Salary: £50,000 per annum

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer

As the business continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Head of Finance to oversee all financial operations and support strategic decision-making.

Role Overview

The Head of Finance will be responsible for leading the company’s financial management, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, improving financial performance, and providing strategic financial insight to support business growth. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both operational excellence and commercial acumen.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

  • Lead the finance function and oversee all day-to-day financial operations.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support executive decision-making.
  • Present financial reports and performance updates to senior leadership.

Financial Planning & Reporting

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Produce annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and KPIs.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities for business improvement.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Manage year-end accounts and coordinate external audits.
  • Oversee VAT, Corporation Tax, PAYE, and other statutory submissions.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and internal governance procedures.

Cash Flow & Treasury

  • Manage company cash flow and working capital.
  • Oversee banking relationships and financial facilities.
  • Monitor debtor and creditor performance to maintain healthy cash reserves.

Commercial Finance

  • Support pricing strategies and commercial decision-making.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and financial risks.
  • Produce business cases for new initiatives and strategic projects.
  • Provide profitability analysis across products and services.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
  • Establish efficient financial processes and systems.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a senior finance leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of UK financial reporting standards and tax legislation.
  • Experience producing management accounts, budgets, and financial forecasts.
  • Excellent analytical and commercial decision-making skills.
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, growing business.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within the telco industry.
  • Knowledge of cloud accounting software such as Xero.
  • Experience implementing financial systems and process improvements.
  • Exposure to mergers, acquisitions, or fundraising activities.
