About the Role

South Coast Nursing Homes is an established and successful, family owned and managed, care home company based in Worthing, West Sussex. We currently operate 9 homes across East and West Sussex. We have 414 beds having recently opened a brand-new Home in Central Worthing, named The Poets. Each registered home offers the highest standards of resident care and comfort, 24 hours – day and night, for long and short-term stays.

This is a brand new and exciting opportunity arising due to the retirement of our current company Finance Director. The position reports directly into the Managing Director and is responsible for all financial systems and processes for SCNH, ensuring any risks are identified and mitigated.

This role is also about financial planning, budgeting, report writing and providing strategic and commercial insight for the Board of Directors. This will assist with effective, high-quality decision-making that represents both value for money and is within the values upheld by SCNH.

Being a relatively small team of four the role will require a hands-on approach to managing the department – a training and nurturing style will be necessary to develop others in their roles. You will be accountable for payroll; purchase ledger; sales ledger; credit control and all management accounting. The business spans across East and West Sussex and includes other properties owned by the company, so you should be familiar with a group structure and multi-site operations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
