Head of Finance

Equifind is partnering with a well-known retail business to recruit a Head of Finance. This is a high-impact role sitting at the heart of the Finance function, combining commercial insight, financial control, and people leadership.

Reporting into senior Finance leadership, you will oversee both the FP&A and Accounting teams, driving month-end close, board reporting, budgeting and forecasting, balance sheet governance, and audit delivery — whilst leading, coaching, and developing a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the month-end close and reporting cycle, holding the team to high standards of accuracy and timeliness
  • Lead the production and presentation of board-level financial reporting, including board pack
  • Drive continuous improvements in financial MI, reporting quality, and close efficiency
  • Oversee budgeting and forecasting, ensuring robust assumptions and consistent documentation
  • Interrogate and challenge business cases, investment appraisals, and scenario analyses, adding rigour and commercial perspective
  • Maintain strong balance sheet and technical accounting standards across the team
  • Own the delivery of audit workpapers and lead on complex technical audit areas
