Location: Bradford | Format: Hybrid Working Available Salary Range: £42,000 - £48,000
About the Role
An established and growing mental health charity is seeking an experienced Head of Finance to strengthen financial governance, support strategic decision-making, and ensure sustainable growth. This opportunity allows you to join the Senior Leadership Team, lead a small finance function, and contribute to strategic outcomes while delivering hands-on operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will take ownership of the following core duties:
- Lead the finance function, managing a small team while maintaining hands-on involvement in finance operations.
- Produce and oversee monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare statutory accounts and coordinate the annual audit process.
- Monitor cash flow, financial performance, and organisational risk, while developing internal financial controls and procedures.
- Support funding applications with robust financial analysis and reporting.
- Oversee payroll processes and maintain partnerships with external finance providers.
- Ensure compliance with Charity SORP, Charity Commission, and Companies House requirements.
- Deliver clear financial reporting and strategic advice to senior leaders and Trustees.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial systems and processes, enhancing efficiency and trustworthiness.

About You
You’ll thrive as a collaborative, values-driven finance professional who balances strategic leadership with operational precision.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or equivalent experience in the charity sector (accepted if preceding the latter).
- Significant senior finance experience, ideally within the charity, not-for-profit, or public sector.
- Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, management accountancy, statutory reporting, and audit.
- In-depth knowledge of charity finance, including:
- Charity SORP compliance
- Fund accounting principles
- Management of restricted and unrestricted income
- Exceptional communication skills, able to translate financial jargon into insights for non-finance stakeholders, leaders, and Trustees.
- Outstanding leadership abilities, including people development and continuous improvement of financial processes.
- High integrity, meticulous attention to detail, and an effective collaborative mindset.
