Head of Finance

About the Role

A Product-Based Business in Lancashire, backed by Private Equity, is seeking a Head of Finance. This is the opportunity to act as the right-hand to an experienced Chief Financial Officer, and lead key financial functions:

  • Management accounts process
  • Financial controls
  • Audit and tax
  • Contributes to building the commercial nerve centre of the business

This is a fully rounded role, critical to business growth and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial operations and oversight:
    • Ensure 13-week cash flows are accurate and up to date
    • Oversee an efficient yet effective management accounts process
    • Uphold flawless technical accounting
  • Commercial analysis & strategy:
    • Explore the commerciality of the business by evaluating ROI across various functions — from marketing spend to product development
  • Collaborative growth support:
    • Contribute to business growth with an unwavering focus on results and deliverables
    • Challenge assumptions while fostering learnability and continuous development
  • Audit and compliance:
    • Maintain robust financial controls and stay aligned with regulatory (audit and tax) demands

Ideal Candidate

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, or ACCA): Ep aunding qualification by experience alone will not be accepted
  • Proven experience in a product-based business, such as:
    • Manufacturing
    • Retail
    • Logistics
    • FMCG
    • Ecommerce
    • Preferably one with multiple distribution channels
  • Business mindset: Must grapple with commerciality and have a curiosity to uncover the intricacies of the business
  • Results-driven and hyper-efficient, capable of excelling in a tight-knit, fast-paced environment
  • Open to learning, willing to challenge ideas while contributing fresh perspective

  • On-site availability: Must be able to work four days on site in Lancashire, one day remotely from home
