Head of Finance – Clifton Park Hospital, York
About the Role & Organisation
Clifton Park Hospital, based in York, is a modern private hospital operated by Ramsay Health Care UK. The hospital delivers high-quality elective surgery, diagnostics, and outpatient services for both private and NHS patients, supported by a multidisciplinary team.
Recently granted a ‘Good’ overall rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), Clifton Park Hospital prioritises excellence in clinical care, compassionate patient support, and effective leadership, with a strong focus on patient safety, personalised care, and continuous improvement.
The Head of Finance will manage and oversee the daily financial and administrative functions of the hospital, ensuring robust decision-making through accurate management information and financial reporting. This is a full-time, on-site role and a key member of the Hospital’s Senior Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Reporting
- Produce monthly management accounts, financial reports, and analytics in line with company guidelines
- Prepare and review the monthly finance pack, reconciling discrepancies and highlighting actionable insights
- Support the Senior Leadership Team in monitoring and driving financial performance, cost-efficiency, and resource utilisation

Operational Excellence
- Lead teams to deliver high volumes of activity while meeting KPIs and ensuring safe, efficient patient pathways
- Collaborate with central teams to optimise labour cost management and resource allocation

Strategic Partnerships & Assurance
- Provide financial guidance to NHS contract management processes
- Partner with senior leadership and business units to evaluate process effectiveness and clinical profitability
- Engage in regional projects to accelerate efficiency improvements across the organisation

Skills & Qualifications
To excel in this role, you must have:
- A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CMA)
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to:
- Analyse and interpret data to drive organisational improvements
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and scalability initiatives
- Unwavering integrity, ethical conduct, and a data-driven mindset
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Leadership experience, including:
- Directing teams to achieve strategic goals
- Inspiring collaboration and alignment around performance, safety, and patient-centric outcomes
- Commitment to delivering results, meeting internal targets, and upholding high standards of quality
