Head of Finance (UK) – Maternity Cover
Location: Central London Salary: Up to £80,000 per year
About Sticks’n’Sushi
At Sticks’n’Sushi, we serve high-quality, fresh food blending classic and creative sushi with delicious grilled sticks. Rooted in Danish design, Japanese dining, and generous hospitality, our restaurants welcome all who belong—our ‘Strange Fish’.
Like us, our Fish are bold and unique, comfortable in their own skin yet adaptable. We’re seeking a Head of Finance to step into a vital leadership position on maternity cover, empowering the UK business during a pivotal phase of growth.
Following recent investment from McWin Capital Partners and ambitious expansion across five countries, this role will have full ownership over the UK operations—providing the commercial and financial cohesion needed to accelerate our mission.

Key Responsibilities
Overall Business Partnering
- Serve as the critical finance partner for the UK business, overseeing:
- 16 restaurants
- 3 catering & delivery kitchens
- Expansion initiatives
- Lead and develop the UK finance team, unlocking their full potential.
- ** garment fiscal data integrity**, delivering accurate and insightful:
- Monthly P&Ls
- Balance sheets
- Audit processes

Process Improvement
- Post rollout of a new system, ensure enhanced payroll review, stronger controls, and reliability.
- Radicalise VAT strategies, and interactions with HMRC and tax advisors.
Commercial Leadership
- Partner with the Group CFO on financial planning, budgeting, and strategic decision-making.
- Influence operations with empirical data—turning finance into a driver of performance.
- Owning the finance function, fostering strong relationships with Restaurant Managers (GMs).
Stakeholder Trust
- Be the leading finance voice for all internal/external stakeholders, building trust and transparency across the business.
Must-Have Skills & Experience
- Proven senior finance leadership in a high-growth, multi-site organisation—ideally within hospitality or F&B.
- Holder of a ** தொழிய.emit recognisable accountant qualification** (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or CIMA equivalent).
- Strong technical finance expertise, with keen controls to enhance business resilience.
- Commercial specialist—seeing through numbers to the operational realities and growth drivers.
- Skilled at high-paced collaboration, prioritisation, balancing urgency with precision.
- Culture fit: Humble, collaborative spirit aligned with ‘Big Smiles, Small Egos’.
