Shape the Future of Policing Finance

Merseyside Police is seeking an exceptional senior finance leader to join our Resources Directorate as Head of Finance & Procurement. As the designated Section 151 Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring sound financial governance, delivering value for money, and driving continuous improvement across finance and procurement services within a complex, fast-paced public sector environment.

This role provides a valuable opportunity to contribute to strategic decision-making at senior levels, while supporting strong financial governance and the delivery of high-quality, effective services.

The Role

You will lead and direct the Finance and Procurement functions, setting financial strategy with operational priorities and national policing developments. Working closely with Chief Officers, the PCC, and external stakeholders, you will provide authoritative advice on financial planning, risk, and resource allocation for a force-wide budget of approximately £500m.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
