Head of Finance Brighton, hybrid Full time, permanent At MPB, we’re transforming the way people buy, sell and trade used photography and videography equipment. As the world’s largest platform for used camera gear, we’re making kit more accessible and sustainable for creators around the world. We’re looking for a Head of Finance to join our growing Finance team in Brighton. This is a pivotal leadership role within MPB, acting as the operational backbone of the Finance function and a key member of our wider senior leadership team. Reporting directly to the VP, Finance, you’ll lead the day-to-day integrity of financial control, compliance and reporting across the group while helping shape the future capability of Finance as MPB continues to scale. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines strong technical finance expertise with a people-first leadership style and a passion for continuous improvement, automation and operational excellence. What you’ll be doing As Head of Finance, you’ll lead the operational delivery of the Finance function across reporting, compliance, financial control, audit and process improvement. You’ll manage and develop a high-performing Finance team while acting as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders across the business, translating complex financial information into clear, actionable insight. You’ll also: Own and lead MPB’s financial control framework, ensuring strong governance, compliance and reporting standards across all entities Lead, coach and develop a team spanning reporting, tax, accounting and finance projects Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement and capability development Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting Lead relationships with external auditors and support smooth, well-governed audit processes Ensure tax compliance and payroll oversight across multiple jurisdictions Partner closely with the VP, Finance to support board reporting, operational delivery and strategic priorities Drive process improvement initiatives across Finance, with a strong focus on automation, scalability and AI-first ways of working Standardise and improve financial workflows to increase efficiency and reduce operational risk Build trusted relationships across the business, helping improve financial understanding and commercial awareness Collaborate closely with FP&A and wider business stakeholders to support budgeting, forecasting and business performance What we’re looking for You’re an experienced finance leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and enjoys building strong, scalable finance operations. You’re equally comfortable leading people, improving processes and getting into the detail when needed. You combine strong technical accounting expertise with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across the business. You’ll bring: Experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams A proactive and hands-on leadership style with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail ACA or ACCA qualification Significant experience in a senior finance, financial control or controllership role within a multi-entity business Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience operating within complex group structures Experience owning month-end and year-end close processes to a high standard Experience managing external audits and compliance processes Strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insight ERP system experience, such as NetSuite, Oracle or SAP Advanced Excel skills A strong interest in process improvement, automation and AI-enabled ways of working It would also be great if you have: Experience working within eCommerce, marketplace or online retail businesses Exposure to international expansion, M&A activity or periods of significant business growth Experience working across multiple jurisdictions, including the US and Germany Experience implementing automation or AI tools within a Finance function Experience leading teams through organisational or operational change Why MPB?
