Head of Finance, UK – NOVENCO Building & Industry
At NOVENCO Building & Industry, we combine Danish engineering excellence with innovative solutions that make buildings safer, smarter, and more sustainable. In the UK, we specialise in designing, installing, and testing life safety smoke ventilation systems alongside energy-saving airflow solutions across diverse facilities. As we expand, we seek a commercially driven Head of Finance to support our UK growth and strengthen leadership.
About The Role
We’re looking for a proactive, commercially minded finance professional to join our UK leadership team as Head of Finance. Based in Bowerhill, this role focuses on business partnering, financial planning, and performance management for our UK operations while working collaboratively with the Group Finance function in Denmark, as accounting processes are managed centrally.
This is a standalone UK finance role with no direct reports, requiring strong autonomy, autonomy, and a business partnering mindset.
Additionally, you will contribute to HR and operational activities, including process development and organisational growth as we scale.
Your Impact
Finance Partnering & Performance Management
- Act as the financial advisor to the UK Managing Director and leadership team
- Deliver monthly performance reporting (actuals vs budget, vs prior year)
- Perform P&L variance analysis and provide financial insights/ recommendations to improve performance
- Implement and drive forecasting processes, including order intake, SG&A projections, and annual budgeting

Project Financial Control
- Lead monthly project financial reviews with Project Managers
- Manage project budgets, cost control, and financial closing
- Review customer contracts (JCT, purchase orders) to identify financial, commercial, and contractual risks before project acceptance
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms, including payment terms, variations, retention provisions, and milestones
- Provide project financial oversight to maximise profitability while maintaining contractual compliance
- Support commercial decisions throughout the project lifecycle with actionable financial analysis
Financial Governance & External Coordination
- Work closely with the Denmark-based finance team to maintain accurate, timely reporting
- Oversee payroll, VAT, and statutory filings
- Liaise with external auditors, accountants, and insurers
HR & Business Operations
- Serve as the HR point of contact for compliance and administration
- Manage time/absence registration and HR processes
- Support office operations and UK expansion planning
- Contribute to process improvements

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
✔ Qualified or part-qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent ✔ Experience in an engineering, construction, or project-based environment ✔ Strong project accounting expertise, including WIP (Work in Progress) management and cost control ✔ Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (IFS knowledge desirable)

- Confident communicator, able to engage with UK and international stakeholders
- Autonomous and hands-on, capable of balancing strategic and operational responsibilities
