Apointe have been instructed to appoint a Head of Financial Control for a highly respected organisation operating in a complex, fast-paced environment. This is a pivotal leadership role within an established finance function. You'll lead a broad team spanning financial reporting, treasury, and transactional finance, while helping shape the future of the finance function through strong leadership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

The Opportunity:

As Head of Financial Control, you'll take ownership of a broad and varied remit, including:

  • Leading financial reporting across monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles.
  • Ensuring a robust financial control framework is maintained across the organisation.
  • Overseeing statutory reporting, external audit, and regulatory compliance.
  • Leading treasury activities, including cash flow management and banking relationships.
  • Managing and developing established financial reporting, treasury, and transactional finance teams.
  • Driving finance transformation, systems improvements, and process optimisation.
  • Supporting and coaching managers to build capability across the wider finance function.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Just as importantly, you're someone who leads with humility. You build trust quickly, enjoy developing others, and bring positive energy to the teams around you. You're equally comfortable discussing technical accounting matters, coaching your managers, or rolling your sleeves up when needed.

We're not simply looking for a technically strong accountant. We're looking for an authentic leader, someone who combines sound judgement, humility, and strong interpersonal skills with the credibility to lead a modern finance function.
