Head of Financial Planning & Analysis
£85,000 to £95,000 plus Benefits Package

A newly created role in a leading organisation is providing an exceptional opportunity for an FP&A professional. ABPM’s retained client is a leader in the environmental services sector, providing manufacturing, waste management, recycling, and material re-deployment across the UK.
ABPM have been retained by this successful, substantial private group of companies to recruit into this key and newly created role. It sets the pathway to make your mark and build experience into your career towards becoming an influential finance leader. How will you do this? Provide the Finance Director and leadership team of the group with a complete Financial Planning & Analysis service supporting them with cogent forward-looking analysis to challenge and facilitate more informed business decisions across the whole group, whilst retaining a sharp eye on the here and now by building a collaborative relationship with the central finance and operations teams.
Accountabilities:
- Produce a monthly executive summary from the Group monthly management accounts, including P&L analysis and a paper relating to current performance with key items highlighted.
- Build a high-level business plan which has a 6-monthly update.
- Enhance and facilitate the annual group budgeting process to ensure that it is completed in a timely manner and in line with business plans.
- Create detailed 12-month, 36-month and 60-month business plans across the revenue and cost centres of the group which are updated and refreshed annually in line with point 3 above.
- Prepare budgets for revenue, operational costs, gross profit and net profit margins, and quarterly detailed review including a sensitivity analysis with updates.
- Monitor, challenge, and analyse performance against budget and agree adjustments with the Finance Director where necessary.
- Create, develop, and update the rolling 3-month & 12-month cash flow forecast.
- Monitor cash balances within agreed banking facilities and minimise bank transaction and financing costs.
- Monitor and report on the working capital position.
- Track and review forecast overseas currency transactions to enable hedging against potential fluctuations in exchange rates, in line with the group’s FX hedging policy.
- Investment and project appraisals for review and discussion.
- Support and analyse business opportunities and potential acquisitions.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/ACMA).
- Experience of operating in a contract and/or manufacturing business.
- Financial modelling skills and an FP&A background.
- High proficiency in financial software, Microsoft Excel, and a tool such as Power BI; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Experience of participation on or supporting a board/executive team.
