Head of FP&A – Finance Transformation Lead

In a well-established, multi-site organisation undergoing major finance transformation, we are building our FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) function and seeking a visionary leader to shape this critical area.

About the Role

This high-impact Head of FP&A position will report directly to the Finance Director and guide all aspects of commercial finance, insight generation, forecasting, and performance management.

You will be responsible for transforming raw financial data into actionable business intelligence, driving decision-making, performance improvements, and strategic direction across the organisation.

Leading the FP&A and commercial finance agenda, you will establish a best-in-class insights function supporting both operational execution and strategic planning, with a strong focus on:

  • Aligning finance with business objectives
  • Enhancing decision-support through robust analytical practices

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Forecasting Leadership

  • Own and optimise budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes
  • Develop sophisticated financial models and enhance scenario planning capabilities
  • Ensure high accuracy in financial predictions and continuous improvement of forecasting methodologies

Insights & Decision Support

  • Deliver clear, data-driven insights for commercial and operational decision-making
  • Analysen performance across revenue, margins, cost structures, and investment opportunities
  • Establish KPI frameworks and management reporting to drive accountability and operational alignment

Strategic Financial Advisory

  • Partner cross-functionally with operational and business leaders to inform strategic decisions
  • Support investment cases, capital allocation, and major initiatives with financial analysis
  • Collaborate with Financial Control to bridge actual performance with budget targets

Process Improvement & Transformation

  • Lead initiatives to improve forecasting accuracy and streamline analytical workflows
  • Play a pivotal role in the wider finance transformation programme
  • Utilise modern analytical tools and automation to enhance efficiency

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Senior leadership role in FP&A, commercial finance, or business partnering (preferably at a company undergoing transformation)
  • Proven ability to build or enhance forecasting, budgeting, and planning processes
  • Strong analytical skillset, with experience developing financial models and scenarios that inform strategy
  • Experience operating in a multi-site or complex business environment
  • Exceptional communication abilities—comfortable influencing senior stakeholders and translating finance for non-finance leaders
  • Track record of improving decision-making through better financial insights
