Head of Financial Services Regulatory

About the Role

Leading role within a global technology company, overseeing a small yet global regulatory legal team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Trading Venues & Reporting:
    • UK Multi-lateral Trading Facility (MTF) + EU equivalents (Netherlands)
    • UK/EU ARM/APA (Alternative Trading System, Approved Publication Arrangement)
    • US Swaps Execution Facility (SEC/CFTC-compliant)
    • Benchmarks (UK/EU BMR) – established business under regulatory oversight
    • Asia-Pacific Markets: Singapore Recognised Market Operator

Cross-Border Licensing & Compliance:

  • Indonesia, Malaysia, Canada, India, Philippines

  • Regulatory Focus Areas:

    • EU Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) – critical third-party supplier oversight
    • ESG ratings regulation (EU: active; UK: passed but not yet operational; India: regulatory framework in development)

Requirements & Qualifications

We seek a qualified lawyer with:

  • Direct experience in:
    • private practice or in-house financial services regulatory roles
    • Deep technical expertise in:
      • Trading venues (MTF, OTF, SEF)
      • Transaction reporting (MiFIR, EMIR, Dodd-Frank)
      • Benchmarks (UK/EU BMR)

  • Leadership & Team Management: Must have led or managed a regulatory legal team across multiple geographies
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Comfortable advising at C-suite level and liaising directly with regulators
  • Fluent Translation: Ability to distil complex regulatory analysis into clear, actionable commercial advice

Contract Details

  • Tenure: 9-12 months (contract role)
