The Role

Your Mission

We’re on the cusp of an extraordinary transformation. We’re seeking a Forward Deployment Strategist to build from scratch the Forward Deployment function (FDE—Forward Deployed Engineer, and team operations). Your mission is to turn n8n’s highest-value enterprise customers into long-term success stories through hands-on deployment tactics, technical enablement, and repeatable blueprints.

You will wear two strategic hats:

  1. Hands-on Deployment Strategist (0-30 months): Build the entire function, methodology, and team. Lead by example: hire, onboard, and coach forward deployed engineers; execute proactive enterprise engagements; define deployment playbooks; and create a cultural movement around adoption champions in target customers.

  2. Enterprise Team Architect (30+ months): Once leadership signals full-scale growth, transition into formal leadership. Build out the deployment enterprise team—selecting strategic accounts, rolling out campaign structures, scaling on-boarding, and refining the succession playbook.

Key Objectives

1. Build a Scalable Forward Deployment Function

  • Define the deployment model: Create a repeatable architecture to select strategic enterprise accounts, inform sales and products, and define engagement scopes—including coordinated in-person tactics.
  • Bootcamp methodology: Design and implement 5-day customer on-site "hackathons" to drive rapid alignment, adoption, and/npm knowledge transfer in complex organization ecosystems.
  • Team structure: Architect a operating model integrating Deployment Strategists with Forward Deployed Engineers. Your first hire will set the trajectory.
  • Internal vs. external partnership logic: Make clear strategic decisions, advocating internally and collaboratively with external sales partners for enterprise needs.
  • Hand-offs to Customer Success: Leave employee deployments equipped to achieve sustained adoption and self-service momentum.

2. Execute Strategic Customer Deployments

  • End-to-end coordination: Manage 5-day on-site deployments (kickoffs, closing, adoption playbooks), engaging executive stakeholders and influencers.
  • Customer capitalization: Uncover hidden organizational dynamics—ads themselves to establish trust across decision-makers, power users, admin teams, and evangelists.
  • ROI storytelling: Translate technical “automation” into tangible, company-specific business value narratives—leveraging established workflow construction principles but reframing them in the business context.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
