Overview of the Role: Head of Health, Safety & Quality

You will lead the Health, Safety, and Quality (H, S, & Q) team, bridging expert delivery across Transportation, Social Infrastructure, Environment & Water, Energy & Defence, and Built Environment sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a growth-centric strategic plan aligned with the broader Specialist Advisory offering
  • Team Management: Lead 60+ cross-sector H, S, & Q specialists (from both internal and multi-disciplinary teams), ensuring career alignment and effective use of resources
  • Recruitment & Resourcing: Responsible for staffing with right skills to support projects and growth goals
  • Project Involvement: Participate in delivery and ensuring adherence to internal methodologies
  • Business Development:
    • Deliver targeted HE, S, & Q solutions for internal and external APD clients
    • Champion market expansion and revenue-related analysis
    • Lead capture strategies and business development activities
  • Quality Ambassadorship:
    • Drive industry-leading best practice H, S, & Q standards within Mott MacDonald
    • Represent business at external forums, showcasing reputational excellence

Candidate Specification

Required:

  • Leadership: Proven ability to establish, define, and culture-coach new teams, fostering high performance
  • Business Acumen: Holistic problem solving with track record of market opportunity maximisation
  • Collaboration: Disciplined advisor and influencer enabling consultative selling
  • Client Relations: Skilled in managing at all stakeholder levels, building relationships, and driving profitability
  • Organisational Fit: Thrives in multi-layered matrix environments (infrastructure/construction) through collaboration and alignment
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written influence, both internally and externally

Accreditation:

  • Degree Qualified (Preferred subject-related qualifications)
  • Chartered Professional Status (with a recognised accredited body)

Clearing Consideration:

  • Ability to acquire required security clearance for prospective role
