Head of Fundraising
Senior Head of Global Fundraising & Communications
About the Role

At SEA LIFE TRUST, our mission is clear: protecting marine life and aquatic habitats. Our fundraising and communications team plays a central role in making that happen. We’re now seeking a Senior Head of Global Fundraising & Communications to lead this work and drive the next phase of growth.
Reporting to the Managing Director, you’ll lead a global team and take ownership of:
- Shaping and delivering our fundraising and marketing strategy
- Building income and partnerships
- Strengthening our global reach
Responsibilities
As Senior Head of Global Fundraising & Communications, your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing a clear fundraising strategy that supports core operations and conservation projects, leveraging corporate partnerships, major donors, trusts, foundations, and individual giving
- Identifying opportunities to grow and diversify income
- Leading marketing and communications activity that:
- Builds awareness
- Strengthens our brand
- Drives engagement
- Collaborating with sanctuary teams and colleagues across Merlin Entertainments
- Building strong relationships across:
- Internal stakeholders
- External donor and partner networks
- Media and commercial relationships
- Developing and leading high-performing global teams
- Creating a collaborative, focused, and results-driven culture
- Ensuring compliance with fundraising regulations and best practice, including clear monitoring and reporting

Qualifications & Experience
We’re looking for a proven leader with:
- Strong experience in fundraising and communications
- A track record of delivering successful fundraising strategies with income growth across multiple streams
- Proven ability to secure and manage high-value partnerships, particularly corporate partnerships
- Commercial awareness to identify new income opportunities
- Leadership experience developing high-performing teams
- Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and influencing skills
- Strategic experience overseeing marketing and communications to drive engagement and income
