Job Description

This role is responsible for end-to-end ownership of the methodology, application, governance, and external articulation of key Group performance metrics. Acting as the authoritative subject matter expert, the role holder ensures consistency, technical integrity, and transparency from planning through to market disclosures. The role works closely with senior finance leaders, business units, and Investor Relations, and leads a small specialist team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as owner of methodology for key Group performance metrics used to manage the business, including:

    • Adjusted operating profit and operating change in CSM
    • Capital Generation and Solvency II
    • AUMA and flows

This includes maintaining sufficient technical understanding of IFRS and Solvency II to set, evolve, and defend methodologies.

  • Own quarterly Group results production across profit and AUMA metrics, including:

    • Enhancement of end-to-end reporting processes
    • Preparation of governance papers and securing required sign-offs
    • Clear explanation of results to senior stakeholders.

This includes producing the results packs and analysis for CFO, Group Executive and Audit Committee at the appropriate level.

  • Apply and interpret methodology across all metrics for new products, changes in segments, and transactions, exercising judgement and resolving differing professional opinions. This includes decisions on whether items are treated above or below the line for adjusted operating profit purposes and being recognised as the authoritative owner across senior finance leadership.

  • Maintain an end-to-end ownership of key Group metrics from plan and forecast inputs through to outturn and actuals, with a deep understanding of the impact on targets and remuneration outcomes.

  • Lead and develop a small specialist team, building deep technical capability, strong professional judgement, and effective collaboration.

  • Own production of external reporting content, including the semi-annual Business and Financial Review and Q1 and Q3 trading updates. This includes drafting narrative to explain performance to the market and verifying the accuracy and consistency of external disclosures.

  • Work closely and collaboratively with Investor Relations, providing guidance and challenge over market messaging.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
