The Head of Growth – UK (Defence Lead)

This dual-remit role combines strategic ownership of DBD’s UK sales function with hands-on business development for the defence sector. Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer (CGO), the role holder will set and own the UK growth strategy and rolled-up quota across the three UK sectors (Decommissioning, Defence and Fuelcycle) while personally leading growth and new business at DBD’s most strategically important defence accounts, including AWE, Devonport, RRSL and Clyde, amongst others.

This role sits at the heart of DBD’s growth agenda, providing the coordination and accountability needed to align sales effort across sectors, while ensuring the defence sector, a critical and strategically important growth area for DBD, receives the dedicated senior business development focus its scale, complexity and key client relationships demand.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
