Job title: Head of Health & Safety
Office location with Hybrid working: Hammersmith
The Head of Health & Safety is a senior leadership role responsible and accountable for Health & Safety compliance across all areas of the business. The role holder will ensure business policy, processes and procedures are in place for the active monitoring of in-life Health and Safety standards for all field and office-based employees, measured clearly with tangible KPIs to record H&S performance and proactively manage H&S risks within the business. The role holder will ensure the business is on track to meet the requirements of any and all external audits of H&S standards, through strong stakeholder engagement and direct action through the dedicated H&S team. The role holder will support and advise all departments up to and including exec level to ensure that Health & Safety legal requirements are adhered to across the organisation, identify and create improvement plans wherever necessary.
What will you be doing?
- Leading the design, development, and implementation of comprehensive Health & Safety strategic frameworks that align with organisational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Be accountable for creation, implementation, and onward monitoring H&S policy, process and procedure across the company, inclusive of both field and office-based employees.
- Accountable for H&S performance against key KPIs.
- Responsibility for the successful management of external audits from H&S regulators within the industry.
- Accountable for capturing, monitoring and mitigating all H&S risks within the business.
- Ensure H&S is reported and managed by all business partners working on behalf of Hyperoptic.
- Lead a safety-first culture across the organisation / promote awareness campaigns to drive engagement in health and safety practices.

What we are looking for?
- IOSH Leading Safety
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) – desirable
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, guidance, and best practice.
- Training in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Proven experience communicating H&S performance and risk information to executive and board level audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership in developing, implementing, and continuously improving health and safety policies, systems, and procedures.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines while maintaining a strong focus on health and safety compliance and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to clearly convey safety expectations and performance metrics.
- Influential and credible leader able to engage stakeholders at all levels to embed safety ownership and accountability.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail for monitoring safety performance and identifying improvement opportunities.
