About the Role

In this new post of Head of Health, Safety, Compliance and Facilities Management, you will provide strategic leadership and operational assurance for health, safety, compliance and facilities management across Norwich City Services Ltd.

You will be responsible for developing a strong, consistent safety culture across diverse frontline operations, protecting employees, contractors, service users and the public while ensuring full compliance with statutory, contractual and local authority governance requirements.

Responsibilities

Some of your main responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and deliver an integrated Health, Safety, Compliance and Facilities Management strategy, aligned to the company’s business plan, Board and shareholder expectations.
  • Act as the organisation’s senior competent person for health and safety and related statutory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation relating to health and safety, facilities management and property compliance.
  • Provide strategic oversight of facilities management arrangements, ensuring buildings, depots and operational sites are safe, compliant and operationally effective.
  • Lead and develop the Health, Safety, Compliance and Facilities Management team(s).
  • Champion continuous improvement, innovation and proportionate risk management across services and sites.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will hold a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification) in Occupational Health and Safety and be a Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH), or demonstrably working towards chartership.

Experience of overseeing health and safety in premises based environments, including depots, offices or operational facilities, managing high-risk activities and proven experience of developing and embedding organisation health and safety strategies is essential. In your role, you will possess strong risk assessment, investigative and analytical skills, ability to translate legislation into pragmatic, operationally workable solutions and excellent communication and influencing skills across diverse workforces.

This role is for 37 hours per week, but to ensure flexibility and promote an inclusive workplace, part-time hours or a job share agreement will be considered.
