UK-Based (Hybrid with flexible travel to Nottingham)

At The Compleat Food Group, we’re on an exciting growth journey and are looking for a Head of HR Shared Services to play a key role in shaping how HR and payroll services are delivered across the business.

This is a senior leadership position with full accountability for building and evolving a high-performing, scalable HR Shared Services and Payroll function. You’ll drive transformation, standardisation, and service excellence, ensuring a seamless and data-driven experience across the employee lifecycle.

This role can be based from anywhere in the UK, with regular but flexible travel to our Nottingham site and other locations as required.

Leadership & Direction

  • Lead and develop the HR Shared Services and Payroll teams
  • Set clear objectives and drive a high-performance, customer-focused culture

Service Delivery & Experience

  • Own the end-to-end employee lifecycle (hire to retire)
  • Deliver against SLAs, KPIs, and service standards
  • Act as escalation point for complex issues
  • Enhance employee and manager experience through simplification and digital solutions

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Standardise HR and payroll processes across the group
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support integration of new sites and acquisitions
  • Ensure strong governance and controls

Payroll Oversight & Governance

  • Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery
  • Maintain adherence to UK statutory requirements
  • Drive robust controls and audit readiness

Data, Reporting & Insight

  • Develop performance dashboards and reporting
  • Provide data-driven insights to key stakeholders
  • Align HR processes with systems (ADP/HRIS)

What We’re Looking For

  • Senior-level experience leading HR Shared Services and Payroll
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation
  • Proven track record in transformation and operational excellence
  • Experience in growth or acquisition-led environments
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (ADP desirable)
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
