The Opportunity As the Head of IAM Control Framework, Audits, Risks and Assurance, you’ll be at the frontline of HSBC’s digital defence - playing a pivotal role in safeguarding our global digital assets. You’ll lead the governance, assurance, and risk management of our IAM controls, ensuring we not only meet but anticipate and exceed the highest standards of security and compliance. In a world where cyber threats are constantly evolving, you’ll drive the continual advancement of our control environment, leveraging industry frameworks and best practices to stay ahead of adversaries and protect what matters most to our customers and colleagues. What you’ll do Oversee and continually enhance the IAM control framework, working closely with control owners and stakeholders across the business. Establish and maintain robust control governance, including key control indicators, management information, and effectiveness reporting. Lead and develop a globally diverse team, driving delivery and a culture of excellence. As a key member of the IAM ExCo, lead and contribute to the success of IAM function. Manage audit interactions and ensure timely implementation of internal, external, and regulatory requirements. Identify and address potential security exposures, recommending and owning corrective actions through to resolution. Research and implement IAM enhancements, focusing on automation, simplification, and alignment with industry best practices. Ensure strict adherence to compliance and operational risk controls, reporting weaknesses and breaches as required. What you’ll bring Deep expertise in technology/cyber and audit, assurance, governance, risk and compliance, with hands-on knowledge of regulatory landscapes and frameworks such as COBIT, ensuring robust identity and access management aligned to industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Significant experience in an IAM Controls function, ideally at a global scale. Bring proven Director level experience from Financial Services, a Big 4 consultancy, Big Tech, or a highly regulated sector (Telecoms, Energy), with a track record of designing and evolving control frameworks in response to sophisticated cyber threats. Proven leadership of diverse, high-performing teams. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Relevant qualifications (e.g., CISM, CRISC) are essential. Analytical, technical, and problem-solving expertise, with strong presentation and reporting abilities. Why HSBC?
