Head of IDNO Operations Derby, Hybrid Working
We are seeking a Head of IDNO Operations, based in our Derby office, with a hybrid working model and regular travel as required to support operational delivery and stakeholder engagement.
About the Role
Lead the operational excellence of E.ON’s IDNO business, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-performing networks that support sustainable growth and exceptional customer outcomes.
The successful candidate will:
- Lead and continuously improve the operational capability of E.ON’s IDNO business
- Accountable for asset adoption, network operations, compliance, and lifecycle performance
- Ensure safe, efficient, and fully compliant delivery of IDNO services from energisation to long-term operation
- Work in partnership with Sales & Commercial leadership to translate commercial wins into successful operational outcomes
- Ensure smooth handover, high-quality asset adoption, and best-in-class ongoing network management
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the multidisciplinary IDNO Operations team, creating a scalable operating model that supports business growth while embedding a high-performance, safety-first culture
- Oversee all operational activities, including:
- Asset adoption
- Network operations
- Asset management
- Regulatory compliance
- Land rights
- Safeguard delivery of safe, efficient, and compliant services
- Accountable for adoption, energisation, and lifecycle performance of network assets, ensuring:
- Technical standards and design assurance are maintained
- Land rights are effectively managed
- Define and deliver strategies for network operations, maintenance, reliability, resilience, and incident management to ensure security of supply
- Ensure compliance with Ofgem licence obligations, industry codes, and safety regulations, maintaining robust:
- Governance frameworks
- Risk management
- Audit processes
- Provide executive leadership for operational performance, including:
- Senior escalation point for critical issues
- Delivery of customer commitments
- Service excellence for operational improvements
- Own operational budgets, financial planning, and performance reporting, driving:
- Cost efficiency
- Asset value maximisation
- DUOS billing and reconciliation activities

Requirements
Key Skill Requirements
- Extensive experiencewithin regulated electricity distribution networks, including:
- Asset adoption
- Network operations
- Asset lifecycle management
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electricity distribution licence obligations
- Industry codes
- Regulatory compliance and governance
- Experience leading audit, risk, and compliance frameworks
- Proven track record in delivering operational excellence, with:
- Cost-efficiency strategies
- Asset value maximisation
- Balancing commercial and customer outcomes
- Experience building and influencing relationships with:
- Regulators
- DNOs
- ICPs (Installation Connection Providers)
- Stakeholders and external industry partners
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, capable of engagement at:
- Executive-level meetings
- External stakeholder forums
- Proven leadership experience in developing high-performing teams, including:
- Fostering accountability
- Continuous improvement
- Embedding safety-first culture
- Commercially astute, with strong:
- Financial planning skills
- Budgeting experience
- Performance management expertise
- Proficient in:
- Microsoft Office applications
- CRM/business management systems
