Role: Head of Infrastructure Services
Location: 2 days per week in a UK office (must be able to attend the office in the location)
Glasgow, Doncaster, Cardiff, Bolton, Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Salisbury
Salary: Circa £85,000 per annum + discretionary bonus + comprehensive benefits
About the Role
The Head of Infrastructure Services owns the full lifecycle of core infrastructure and network provision, covering on-premises and cloud environments, WAN/LAN, and remote access.
The role reports directly to the CIO and carries genuine ownership: the successful candidate will set the roadmap, hold budget accountability, and act as the senior point of governance for the organisation's infrastructure MSPs.
This is not a hands-on engineering role. It is a leadership and governance position for someone who has already done the technical work and now wants to own strategy, vendor performance, and financial accountability at a senior level.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Network Leadership
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle, performance, and roadmap of infrastructure and network services across on-premises and cloud environments, WAN/LAN, and remote access.
- Maintain an authoritative asset inventory and CMDB aligned with ITIL practices.
- Own resilience planning, including backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability architecture, with regular testing built in.
- Set documentation standards for every infrastructure service, covering ownership, lifecycle status, support model, and known limitations, and enforce a periodic review and attestation process.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
