The Role
In this demanding, high-impact role, you’ll establish and lead all aspects of our evolving internal audit function—starting from a greenfield state—while ensuring unflinching rigor in compliance, risk, and controls. Bending Spoons operates globally and expands rapidly, requiring proactive audit discipline to protect value while enabling innovation. Key Responsibilities

SOX Compliance & Controls
- Own SOX end-to-end, coordinating across business processes, IT systems, and governance to meet (and exceed) quarterly compliance deadlines.
- Partner with product, finance, and engineering teams to embed controls without stifling agility.

Internal Audit Leadership
- Develop and lead the annual audit plan, covering financial, operational, technology, and compliance risks.
- Lead controls testing, diagnose gaps/risk exposures, and drive remediation to resolution—ensuring confidence in processes, systems, and organizational integrity.
- Translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations for senior management and the audit committee; own closing loop discipline.

Audit Function Architecture
- Shape Bending Spoons’ rising-audit maturity. Define methodologies, governance frameworks, and technology stacks to support scalability.
- Work with global teams to align compliance definitions and processes, reducing ambiguity and risk.

Stakeholder Relationships
- Bridge internal leadership and external auditors—demonstrate independence while aligning inspection scope to business priorities.
- Influence through crisp accountability—potential access to portfolio leadership, audit committees, and board.

🔹 Compensation & Long-Term Alignment
- Core annual salary typically lies between:
- USA: $204,281–$411,014 (adjusts for cost of living; higher in NYC/SF markets)
- London: £151,436–£250,512
- Europe/Global: €107,837–€240,330.
- Unlimited equity participation—compensation increases rapidly with impact depending on CEO valuation targets and your commitments.
- Progression supported by interview-driven ones-to-hunger payments.
🔹 Hybrid but Intentional
- At least six months based in-source in your initial location plan: this accelerates your cultural alignment, grounding, and trust-building with peers.
- Post-ramp stages allow office-based work, or approved remote work, depending on the team’s preference.
Commitment & Structure
