This is a rare opportunity to shape how thousands of employees experience, understand, and engage with an organisation’s strategy, purpose, and culture, based in Bristol.
Location: 3 days a week in the Bristol Office. Reporting Line: Senior People leader.
The Opportunity
As Head of Internal Communications, you’ll define and deliver the internal communications and colleague engagement strategy, ensuring employees stay aligned, motivated, and connected throughout an exciting organisational transformation.
This is a highly visible leadership role, working alongside senior executives to influence culture, support business change, and deliver a first-class colleague experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute an internal communications strategy closely aligned with business priorities and audiences.
- Lead scientist colleague engagement initiatives to strengthen organisational culture and employee experience.
- Shape and embed the organisation’s Colleague Value Proposition throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Partner with Executive and Senior Leadership to create authentic, engaging leadership communications.
- Lead internal communications for business transformation, organizational change, and company-wide projects.
- Oversee internal channels (intranet, newsletter, town halls, etc.), ensuring they deliver engaging, relevant, and impactful content for all stakeholders.
- Plan and execute memorable employee events, leadership forums, and engagement campaigns.
- Utilise employee insights, analytics, and qualitative feedback to refine engagement strategies.
- Build strong working relationships across HR, Marketing, Corporate Affairs, and key business stakeholders.

Requirements
You’ll bring a blend of expert leadership experience and outgoing people skills, with:
Strategic & Leadership Skills
- Proven track record of leading internal communications in a complex, large-scale organisation.
- Hands-on expertise in employee experience and organisational culture, with a focus on transformation.
- Strong change leadership and support for senior leaders through major business evolution.
- Exceptional written, storytelling, and verbal communication – translating complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Deep experience in executive engagement, messaging, and board communications.
