Head of IT
Location: Bedwas, Caerphilly

The Role
The Head of IT is responsible for leading, developing, and executing the organisation’s IT and digital infrastructure strategy across MultiShield Group (CheckFire Group). This role ensures secure, scalable, and efficient technology systems that support operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and business growth across all divisions.
The postholder will play a key leadership role in modernising systems, improving cyber resilience, and driving digital transformation initiatives to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.

Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive IT & digital infrastructure strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives, including cloud adoption, automation, and system integration.
- Advise executive leadership on emerging technologies and digital opportunities.

- Oversee all IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, cloud platforms, and end-user computing.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of systems across multiple sites.
- Manage IT service delivery, ensuring robust SLAs and user satisfaction.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Lead the organisation’s cybersecurity strategy, ensuring protection against evolving threats.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, industry-specific regulations).
- Oversee incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
Systems & Applications
- Oversee the implementation, integration, and maintenance of enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, field service systems, etc.).
- Ensure systems support core business functions such as service delivery, compliance reporting, and asset management.
Data & Digital Innovation
- Promote data-driven decision-making through effective data management and reporting tools.
- Identify and implement digital solutions to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build and lead a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
- Manage internal staff and external vendors/partners.
- Drive continuous professional development within the IT function.
Budget & Vendor Management
- Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and ROI on technology investments.
- Negotiate and manage vendor contracts, ensuring value and performance.

Requirements
Essential
- Significant experience in a senior IT leadership role (Head of IT, IT Director, or similar).
- Proven track record of delivering IT strategy and digital transformation initiatives.
- Strong technical expertise across infrastructure, cloud services (e.g., Azure, AWS), networking, and cybersecurity.
- Experience managing multi-site or multi-entity IT environments.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing IT budgets, procurement, and vendor relationships.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
- Experience in the fire protection, safety, compliance, engineering, or service-based industries.
- Familiarity with field service management systems and mobile workforce technologies.
- Knowledge of IoT, asset tracking, or smart systems integration.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, CISSP, TOGAF, Azure/AWS certifications).
